Christina Sie-Merritt - Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Christina Sie-Merritt is a Manitoba-based artist working from the edge of the Boreal Forest. Her practice explores the relationship between human experience and the living rhythms of the earth, with particular attention to movement, transformation, place and belonging
Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions and is held in private collections across Manitoba and Ontario. She has sold work through galleries in both provinces and has participated in multidisciplinary and public art collaborations. In 2017, she worked as both an artist and gallery designer for the Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls Moving Gallery, a unique water-themed mobile gallery created as part of Canada’s 150th anniversary celebrations
Her process is intuitive and embodied, often beginning with spontaneous drawing using both hands simultaneously. This practice allows gesture, rhythm and sensation to surface before conscious intention, creating an opening through which the paintings emerge. Through colour, form and movement, her work explores the meeting point between outer landscape and inner experience
